Hi, I’m Poonam.

I am a somatic practitioner and artist working with feminine embodiment and Shakti wisdom as lived, bodily intelligence. My approach intuitive, heart and womb led, rooted in Shakti Wisdom, body-orientated coaching, and energy healing. My work supports people in reconnecting with their vitality, intuition, and creative life force through safe, grounded, embodied practice.

I help women transform creative blocks into sacred wisdom and alchemizes self-doubt into self-trust. I am a vessel for sacred expression and a mirror for your creative unfolding, guiding you to uncover what’s already stirring beneath the surface, inviting it gently into form.

My work is about making space for what is often unseen - grief, tenderness, memory, longing, joy, magic and truth.

What informs my practice in evolution?

My life experiences as a Sikh-Kenyan-Panjabi woman, living in South-East-London, inter-disciplinary artist, being a Twin, collectively raised, 2/5 Generator, have shaped my world view, and deeply informed my body of work I am growing.

I am inspired by fellow artists, and world-weavers standing in their truth such as Frida Kahlo, Amruta Patil, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Georgia O'Keeffe, David Whyte, Bell Hooks, John O’Donohue, Rukmini Vijayakumar, Rikthika Merchant and many more!

I bow to Shakti, the primordial womb of creation - for within Her dwells all ancient wisdom, infinite healing, and the eternal dance of liberation.

I bow to The Gurus, Sants and Goddesses. I bow to Mother Nature: the moon cycles, trees, flowers, water and earth. I offer my heart-felt to my mentors, and Sangat who are companions on my journey.

The spaces in-between

The art of making runs through my veins. My mamma (my grandmother) was an artisan and her love of the craft of hands and heart, has been imprinted into my being. My home has been filled with ancient sounds of Tabla, Kirtan, Bhajan, Qawwali and rhythms from around the world. Fragrances of sweet cardamon, fiery ginger and warming cumin seeds fill the kitchen, while the lingering of woody, sandalwood and rich Nag Champa incense gently wander in and out of the spaces in between.

All the seen, felt, tasted, touched, heard and in-between textures have shaped my life.

In my art practice and private client work, I work with the forces seen and unseen to hold embodied spaces, to transform creative blocks into sacred wisdom and alchemizes self-doubt into self-trust.

Textures are my teachers

When I say “Textures” or “Textures of Truth, I am speaking of the frequency of energy, the fabric of consciousness that is alive, eternal, and ever unfolding.

I believe textures are a form of language, wisdom flowing from and to us, a deep coding waiting to be received and decoded. They hold an infinite power and speak intimate language to us.

texture is much more just than just a visual or tactile surface. They are the unseen, but felt and interconnected threads of energy that are always in communion with us and the higher realms.

Under the surface

The language of Shakti

I am deeply connected to the language and Shakti of creativity, and how She expresses herself in all her forms. I taste the world in constellations of textures, colours, fragrance, and feeling. I am an artist living a textured life. I feel and taste the language, methodologies, and melodies of your creative process.

My approach is centred in Somatic healing, person centred, and creative expression. My work dances between somatic healing, emergent strategy, art and play therapy, and Ancient Wisdom rooted in the Dharmic traditions. I weave together threads of craft, movement, sound, ritual, reflection, and prayer through my sessions. I offer warmth, sincerity, compassion, integrity and honesty to my clients. I bring my whole humanness into the sacred space I hold.

My artistic practice explores themes of textures of home, constellations of time and connections, layers of longing, roots of belonging and discovery of sacred dimensions. Working with me is powerful, as my roots are deeply connected in God. I am a clay vessel for the creative Shakti to move through me.

Lived Experience

I am a certified embodiment coach having trained with The Somatic School which is accredited by the Intentional Coaching Federation (ICF). I am continuing my professional development and training for my ACC credentials with the ICF.

I call upon my Ancestors, my Sikh faith, Akal Purakh, and Shakti to guide my work. I weave together somatic practices, art therapy, constellation frameworks, emergent strategy and  Dharmic wisdom.

I offer warmth, sincerity, compassion, integrity and honesty to my clients. I bring my whole humanness into the sacred space I hold.

Body of Culture

My roots flow deep into Nairobi, Kenya and Amritsar, Panjab to my Ancestors and our Gurus. As a Sikh-Panjabi woman living in South-East London.

I have experienced my body shrink, I have felt unsafe and not enough in environments which have erased, judged or not heard me.

I want you to feel safe and secure, in your body and in the world. I want you to celebrate your roots and feel proud of culture.

I want you to understand your body and cultivate processes that ground you and increase your capacity for wholesome, non-addictive pleasure.

Wholeness

I have experienced racism, prejudices and cultural bypassing.  I have waded through storms of anxiety, panic attacks and depression.

Shrinking in my body is a familiar experience.  I have code-switched, erased parts of myself to fit in and have crumbled to bits. That is where I found out that fitting in isn’t the same as belonging. I leaned into the discomfort and unknowing. I released it and went through it, shifted and healed.

I am more than my thoughts, more than my suffering and more than my achievements. I know what I am made of and what I have been held by.

I am whole exactly as I am - and so are you.
